John Hancock Funds has expanded its institutional sales team with the appointment of a managing director. Douglas Thompson joined the firm on September 12 with a responsibility to focus on bank trust departments. Working alongside Chip Saltz, Thompson will report to senior managing director and head of institutional sales Todd Cassler. Previously, Thompson was director, consultant relations with The Hartford’s Institutional Mutual Funds. Before that, he was with Whitecap Advisors, Shaker Investments and Schuylkill Capital Management.
