Guggenheim Hires For Prop Trading Unit

Guggenheim Partners has appointed seven senior executives for its proprietary trading division Guggenheim Global Trading.

Guggenheim Partners has appointed seven senior executives for its proprietary trading division Guggenheim Global Trading, The Wall Street Journal reports. Michael Leopardi has joined the firm as director of operations from Shumway Capital Partners, while Michael Carrier has joined as CFO from Blue Ridge Capital and Thomas Wynn as chief compliance officer from Highbridge Capital Management.

The firm has also appointed RBC Capital Markets’ Santosh Varki as chief technology officer, Munich Re Asset Management’s Jules Buxbaum as chief risk officer, Morgan Stanley’s Sheryl Kaye as director of recruiting and due diligence as well as Guggenheim Advisors’ David Worley as general counsel. The new unit is set to hire up to 150 traders and is scheduled to launch in September.
