Irish Banks May Need More Capital, Says EC

The European Commission said Irish banks may require a greater capital injection than originally planned as a result of unforeseen levels of loan losses, reports Irish Times.

The European Commission said Irish banks may require a greater capital injection than originally planned as a result of unforeseen levels of loan losses. In a periodic review of Ireland, the EC, which has postponed a capital injection of €10billion ($13.53 billion) to Allied Irish Banks, Bank of Ireland and EBS Building Society, also warned there was “considerable uncertainty” relating to the plan’s macroeconomic projections.
