THIRD TEAM

Vidyadhar Ginde BofA Merrill Lynch Global Research

Joining the third team is BofA Merrill Lynch Global Research’s Vidyadhar Ginde. In May 2010, Ginde upgraded Oil India, a state-run integrated-gas giant headquartered in Duliajan, Assam, from neutral to buy, after the government more than doubled the price of natural gas sold to distributors. The shares gushed from 1,136.53 rupees to as high as Rs1,583.49 in September then began to slide as global crude prices soared. At the end of May, the shares traded at Rs1,284.80, up 13 percent from the analyst’s upgrade and outpacing the sector by more than 17 percentage points. Ginde “cuts through the daily noise to give useful insights and actionable ideas,” marvels one admirer.
