Chicago-based financial holding company Northern Trust Corp. has named Katherine Ellis Nixon as CIO for personal financial services. She will direct the management of over $163 billion in assets and handle portfolio managers at the firm’s personal financial services offices across 18 states. She will also advise the strategic direction of the firm’s private client investment business and the continued evolution of its investment platform and offerings.
Nixon is a voting member of Northern Trust’s committees for investment policy, tactical asset allocation and investment advisory. Joining the firm in 2004 as a senior portfolio manager, she became CIO for the Northeast Region in 2005. Previously, Nixon was associated with New York–based investment management company U.S. Trust in investment-related capacities.
