People’s United Financial has appointed Kirk Walters as its senior executive vice president and CFO. He is replacing Paul Burner, who recently left the holding company for People’s United Bank. Walters will also be named to the boards of directors of People’s United and the bank. Walters was most recently senior executive vice president and a member of the board of directors of Santander Holdings USA, the parent company of Sovereign Bank. Prior to this, he has also served at Chittenden Corporation from 1996 to 2008.
