Chip maker Broadcom is buying NetLogic Microsystems for $3.7 billion, The Wall Street Journal reports. The acquisition will enhance the Irvine-based company’s position in the networking equipment chips market.
Broadcom has offered $50 a share for the Silicon Valley chip maker. The boards of both the companies have permitted the transaction, which is likely to close in the first half of 2012.
