BBVA is planning to hire around 300 staff for its investment banking business in London, New York and Hong Kong, Reuters reports. The hiring is a part of the firm’s three-year expansion plan in wholesale banking, such as in loan syndication, foreign exchange and credit. With the new staff the London business of BBVA will increase to about 200 bankers from nearly 150. The hiring for its wholesale banking and investment management business will increase its employees to 4,600 from 4,300 by the end of 2011.
