Credit Suisse’s group under the guidance of Xiang (Edmond) Huang earns the No. 2 spot on this lineup, which no longer reflects coverage of the region’s transportation names. On last year’s broader roster, he and his associates held third place. They “always give us and the Street the most updated and in-depth analysis of China’s industrials companies,” one money manager declares. “Their calls are spot-on, and their corporate access is unmatched by any other brokerage.” Huang, 45, reports that his team is cautious on regional industrials shares and recommends a highly selective outlook on picking stocks. “The major issues generally are weak demand, despite some strength in select areas that have benefited from recent government stimulus measures, and overcapacity,” he says. “We continue to like wind equipment, with Goldwind [Science & Technology Co.] as our top pick, given-stronger-than expected demand and cheap valuation.”
