Investors may be signaling this sentiment. Shares of the embattled multistrategy and credit specialist have surged nearly 50 percent this year, making it perhaps the best hedge fund investment so far in 2019.

Och-Ziff is one of three stocks associated with hedge fund firms that have recently suffered through some rough times to rally by double-digits since the beginning of the year.
