Hedge Funds Ramped Up Private Investments This Summer

While the IPO market was relatively quiet over the summer, hedge funds and their venture capital arms remained busy making new investments in private companies.

Initial public offerings may be on pace to post their best year since 2014, according to Renaissance Capital. But companies mostly took the summer off from the IPO market, as the number of new offerings slowed considerably.

This did not stop the usually active investors in private companies from making new investments or additional investments in existing holdings, however.
