Ban on Wirecard Short Sales Cost Short Sellers $450 Million

The German securities regulator’s effort to curb short selling will last until mid-April.

A German prohibition on short sales in Wirecard, an internet payment and processing services company, cost short sellers $450 million in mark-to-market losses in just two days this week, according to a new report by S3 Partners, a financial technology and analytics firm.
