Industries: Food Producers – Third

Charles Mills, David Alexander Molloy & team, Credit Suisse

The Credit Suisse threesome co-captained by Charles Mills, who is based in London, and David Alexander Molloy, who works out of Zurich, slips one notch to third place. The team tracks 19 companies and is “particularly strong in its coverage of the sugar industry,” explains one investor. On the belief that sugar supplies would tighten, thus driving up prices, the analysts advised clients to buy Associated British Foods in March, at 928.25p; the London-based outfit’s British Sugar subsidiary is one of the world’s largest producers of the sweetener. By the end of the year, the stock had risen a very tasty 19.3 percent, to 1,107p. “Alex and Charlie are always cooking up rich, high-calorie research that is filling — but has you coming back for seconds,” says one buy-side supporter.
