Valéry Lucas-Leclin, Sarbjit Nahal, BofA Merrill Lynch Global Research
The buy side says: “They clearly demonstrate why a commitment to sustainability makes good financial sense.”
BofA Merrill Lynch Global Research tops the sector for a second year running even though its team has shrunk from seven members to two: Valéry Lucas-Leclin, 41, and Sarbjit Nahal, who turns 40 this month. The London-based duo is “able to link sustainability to financially relevant research,” hails one client. The analysts expect the popularity of environmental, social and governance issues to gain momentum this year, given “growing mainstream interest in understanding both the long-term opportunities and risks,” says Nahal. He and Lucas-Leclin co-led Société Générale’s team to a runner-up finish in 2009; the latter joined BofA Merrill in 2010 and holds a master’s in economics from the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris.
