Sumito Takeda UBS

The buy side says: “Takeda has good insights.”

Sumito Takeda of UBS debuts in first place — but though he’s new to this sector, he is hardly unknown: Takeda spent the past two years at No. 1 in Software/Business and is No. 2 this year. His calls are “very clear and useful,” asserts one ally. In June, Takeda advised buying Gree, a Tokyo-based social network services operator, on its rising market share. The stock surged 33 percent, from ¥1,911 to ¥2,542, through February. Takeda, 36, joined UBS in 2006 from Daiwa Institute of Research; he holds a master’s in philosophy from Tokyo’s Waseda University Graduate School of Human Sciences. — Pam Baker
