Total appearances: 2

Analyst debut: 2014

A runner-up in his 2014 debut appearance, Citi’s Ashwin Shirvaikar secures third-place honors this year. The 48-year-old worked as a financial analyst at New Jersey–based aerospace and engineering company AlliedSignal (now Honeywell) before launching his sell-side career at Citi in January 2000. Shirvaikar holds a BS in mechanical engineering from India’s National Institute of Technology, Jamshedpur, as well as an MS in mechanical engineering from the University of Cincinnati and an MBA earned at Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management in New York. Tracking 26 U.S. computer services and information technology consulting names, the analyst “has great in-depth industry and company knowledge,” one portfolio manager attests, “so he is able to see and better predict the nuances of how these companies will influence future market share gains and losses.” Another backer declares that “he makes great stock calls and is a great asset to us.” For his part, Shirvaikar says, “I have had a generally positive view of my sector for multiple years but am incrementally more cautious on valuation, as the sector multiple has moved from a discount to the market multiple to a premium.”
