Wachtell Lipton Calls on SEC to Protect Against Activists

The New York firm, whose co-founder is credited with inventing the poison pill, says the SEC needs to help protect firms against unwanted activist attacks.


Wachtell, Lipton, Rosen & Katz, the New York law firm that specializes in defending companies targeted by hostile acquirers or activist investors, has gone on the offensive in an attempt to blunt the force of these campaigns.

In each of the past two days, the law firm has fired off memos to clients to raise the awareness of a number of issues that threaten companies that are the targets of unwanted assaults.
