Credit Funds Eke Out Small Third-Quarter Gains

Most funds are either down or up slightly for the year.

After a rough second quarter, credit hedge funds rebounded somewhat in the three months ending in September. The Gapstow Alternative Credit Index gained 0.50 percent in the third quarter, trimming its loss for the year to 3.8 percent.

In its third-quarter report and summary, Gapstow Capital Partners pointed out that credit markets had actually rebounded sharply in July and much of August, at a time when interest rates were declining and optimism was creeping back into the financial markets.
