Over the past year the five analysts have expanded their coverage of Mexican stocks and now provide research on a total of 37 companies. Among them, Macquarie Mexico Real Estate Management was dubbed a top pick in November, despite having lost a third of its value since the stock reached a 12-month high of 33.30 Mexican pesos the previous May. BTG’s researchers pointed to the real estate investment trust’s recent acquisitions and heavy emphasis on industrial rather than retail properties as likely growth drivers. Sure enough, by late July the REIT’s shares had rallied 21.9 percent, to 27.59 pesos, pacing the sector by 13.3 percentage points. They continue to favor Macquarie Mexico, assigning the stock a target price of 30 pesos. “BTG Pactual is the best-informed, most forward-thinking [group] in this sector,” another loyalist declares. This year, Lee also leads one runner-up squad in coverage of Mexico and co-heads another, with Carlos Eduardo Sequeira, in Technology, Media & Telecommunications.
