The seven-person Deutsche Bank squad under Mark Braley leaps from runner-up to second place. Braley is one of three team members based in London; the others work out of Frankfurt, Milan and Stockholm to provide coverage of 40 companies. “We favor professional publishers most strongly — such as UBM, Reed Elsevier and Pearson — and advertising agencies selectively,” explains Braley, who also leads the No. 3 team in United Kingdom coverage. France’s Havas and the U.K.’s WPP are among the agencies the analysts recommend. However, he adds, “we warn investors to be ready to be aggressively long before all the bad news has passed — it’s just that the bad news keeps coming.”
