Team debut: 2011Deutsche Bank Securities’ Torsten Sløk earns his third consecutive No. 3 finish. Clients hail the economist’s weekly “Global Economic Perspective,” which is described as an “effective dashboard for navigating weekly issues” by one investor who also appreciates the researcher’s reporting on “unconventional” U.S. Federal Reserve policy. Sløk himself expects the U.S. recovery to gain traction going into next year. “This will mean higher growth and higher inflation,” he says. “This also means that the Fed will be forced to raise rates in 2015.” That shift should benefit cyclical stocks, including homebuilders and industrials, he notes, but will put downward pressure on interest-rate-sensitive stocks. “The main risk to equities,” Sløk concludes, comes from “potential turbulence in fixed income as the Fed begins to raise interest rates.”
