J.P. Morgan Reigns in 2017 All-America Research Team

For the second year in a row, J.P. Morgan leads the All-America Research Team, Institutional Investor’s annual ranking of the best equity analysts on Wall Street.

The bank has come out on top every year but one since 2010, and this year extended its reign. In the 2017 survey, J.P. Morgan dominated with its analysts ranked in 42 sectors, by far the most of any firm. Silver medalist Bank of America Merrill Lynch nabbed 33 team positions, while third-place Evercore ISI earned 29 spots.

Barclays, Morgan Stanley, and UBS tied for fourth with 28 team positions apiece. For this 46th edition of the All-America Research Team, II surveyed money managers at 1,357 firms managing a combined $11.9 trillion in U.S. equities. Respondents chose their favorite research analysts across 60 investment sectors.

A total of 338 analysts and research teams made this year’s roster, representing 28 sell-side firms. More than two-thirds of first-team analysts — 41 out of 60 — led their sectors last year. Fourteen advanced from second place, while two moved up from third.
