Fund Results Veer All Over the Map in a Topsy-Turvy October

Fund managers produced some of their best results — and some of their worst — leaving the HFRI index flat.

Although Charles Dickens never experienced running a hedge fund, October really was the best of months and the worst of months.

The HFRI Fund Weighted Composite Index was virtually flat — it rose a mere 0.09 percent for the month — but don’t be fooled.
