TRSL Hires EM Equities Managers

The $12.3 billion Teachers’ Retirement System of Louisiana, Baton Rouge, has appointed Dimensional and Vontobel Asset Management to manage up to $250 million each in active emerging markets equities.

The $12.3 billion Teachers’ Retirement System of Louisiana (TRSL), Baton Rouge, has appointed Dimensional Fund Advisors and Vontobel Asset Management to manage up to $250 million each in active emerging markets equities, Pensions & Investments reports. Others who were shortlisted for the final selection include JPMorgan Asset Management, Quantitative Management Associates and Schroder Investment Management.

This will be the system’s first investment in emerging markets equities. The date from which the contract will begin and the source of finance have not been fixed as yet. TRSL is the state’s largest public retirement system, providing services and benefits to more than 160,000 individuals.
