SGX To Consider Exchange Deals

The Singapore Exchange is in talks for deals with other bourses.

The Singapore Exchange (SGX) is in talks for deals with other bourses, Financial Times reports. At its annual shareholder meeting, CEO Magnus Böcker said a range of discussions was on but did not give details. He also said high-frequency equity trading on the bourse may begin within a year, but will not be allowed without a system of circuit breakers in place.

The CEO declined to comment on a possible bid by SGX for all or part of either the London Metal Exchange or LCH.Clearnet. He had in August said the exchange is focused on organic growth rather than overseas mergers.
