Danforth Science Center Gets $12M

The Donald Danforth Plant Science Center has obtained additional funding worth $11.9 million.

The Donald Danforth Plant Science Center has obtained additional funding worth $11.9 million, Business Journal reports. The funding was provided by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the Monsanto Fund and the Howard Buffett Foundation.

The proceeds will be used to support the center’s research to make the cassava plant resistant to viruses to help boost crop yields and reduce poverty and famine in sub-Saharan Africa. The centre had received $8.3 million from the Gates Foundation in April.
