Martin Skancke has stepped down as head of the department responsible for the Government Pension Fund Global.

Martin Skancke has stepped down as head of the department responsible for the Government Pension Fund Global, Global Pensions reports. He will be succeeded by director general of the department Pål Haugerud.

Along with overseeing the fund, Norway’s finance ministry also takes an active role in determining investment strategy. The sovereign wealth fund has an estimated $600 billion in assets, managed by Norges Bank Investment Management.
