Kazakh SWF Appoints Chairman

The Samruk-Kazyna fund has appointed Timur Kulibayev as chairman of Kazakhstan’s $80 billion sovereign wealth fund.

The Samruk-Kazyna fund has appointed Timur Kulibayev as chairman of Kazakhstan’s $80 billion sovereign wealth fund, The Telegraph reports. Kulibayev has succeeded Kairat Kelimbetov, who will now serve as the minister of economic development and trade. Kulibayev has earlier chaired the boards of companies controlled by the national wealth fund, including Kazatomprom, KazMunaiGaz, Kazakhstan TemirZhol, KEGOC and Samruk-Energo. Since 2008, he has served as chairman of the national committee of the World Petroleum Council.
