BNY: U.K. Pensions Cut Equities Holdings

Pension scheme investments in U.K. equities has more than halved over the past decade as funds are moving into bonds and index-linkers, as per BNY Asset Servicing, IPE reports. BNY reported that the amount of equities in pension fund portfolios has decreased from 73.5% to 51.4% in the decade to 2010.

Asset allocations to U.K. equities have suffered a decline from 51% to 22.7% over the same time period. Holdings in U.S. equities have increased to 9.7% from 4.7%, with emerging market equities reaching 3.5% at the end of December last year.
