The Gores Group has appointed Lewis Bird as managing director of the private equity firm. Based in Los Angeles, Bird will be operations group practice leader for the consumer and retail industry. He will be working closely with managing director of the M&A group, Jeff Schwartz, and will be responsible for portfolio company oversight and leading operational due diligence efforts. Prior to joining Gores, Bird was group president at Nike and was a member of Nike’s executive committee.
