John Liu, the New York City comptroller, is planning to offer access to information about the New York City pension funds to the public, Global Pensions reports. ‘Pension NYC’ will provide a set of five online tools, including webcasts of board meetings, an online library of meeting minutes and agendas, an interactive FAQ section and real time disclosure of fund expenditure and investments. The new tools will be launched over the course of this year. The access to information about the $113 billion pension funds will help improve transparency. Taxpayers and pensioners have a right to know about how the money is being invested and spent, said Liu.
