Citigroup has rolled out an electronic trading platform for equities in Brazil, Mexico and Canada.

Citigroup has rolled out an electronic trading platform for equities in Brazil, Mexico and Canada, Financial Times reports. The firm will now provide its algorithms and direct market access products in three of the largest markets in the U.S., using its local subsidiary in Brazil.

The move will help Citi comply with stringent local controls on foreign institutions trading directly in equities, as well as in Mexico and Canada. As per the firm, only 13 stocks on Mexican exchanges are liquid enough for electronic strategies.
