The Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission has laid blame for the financial crisis on the Federal Reserve. A report by the FCIC stated that the Fed failed to recognize the “cataclysmic danger” posed by the housing bubble to the financial system and did not take action to stop it from worsening. The report also criticized the central bank for failing in its obligation “to establish and main prudent mortgage lending standards and to protect against predatory lending.”
