GMAC Financial Services may sell shares in an initial public offering in the next two years, The Wall Street Journal reports. The proceeds will be used to repay $16.3 billion in government aid.

In April 2010, the U.S. Treasury will end its automotive supplier support program, which was previously scaled back from an initial $5 billion to $3.5 billion, adds Reuters. GMAC, which is 56.3 percent U.S.-government owned, raised $2 billion in unsecured debt in February 2010.
