David Goldman has joined Cantor Fitzgerald‘s Debt Capital Markets Group as global head of fixed income research. As a new hire, Goldman will effectively launch the fixed income division from a research perspective. He will report to Irvin Goldman, president and CEO of the group. The two are not related.

The fixed income group has undergone significant growth since 2003 when it was launched by the inter-dealer broker as an effort to increase its product offering. The group consists of a team of roughly 180 traders and sales staff. The firm opened four regional sales and trading offices last year in Atlanta, Houston, Austin, Texas and Memphis, Tenn. David Goldman will be based in New York.

A spokesman at Cantor declined to provide specific details on whether it would hire a research team to support Goldman, and how he will function within the larger group.

Goldman joins Cantor from Banc of America Securities where he was global head of debt research. He is credited with developing quantitative credit models, such as credit-option adjusted spread for BofA and Credit Underlying Securities Pricing (CUSP) for Credit Suisse First Boston, where he served as global credit strategist.
