Paul Dewberry & team Bank of America Merrill Lynch
The buy side says: “They look at the industry from all angles and cover all the bases.”
After three years in the runner-up position, the Singapore-based Bank of America Merrill Lynch team vaults to the top for the first time. Led by Paul Dewberry, 38, the five-member team researches about 30 companies. The analysts expect air cargo to begin a “modest recovery,” and passenger demand will increase, supported by “structural growth out of China and improving industry-capacity discipline,” Dewberry says. Current buy recommendations include Hong Kong–based Cathay Pacific and China Eastern Airlines Corp. Dewberry, who earned a bachelor’s degree in business studies at City University London’s Cass Business School, covered the sector for Citi before moving to BofA Merrill in 2005. The team leader “is very experienced and takes clear, conviction-driven views — which tend to be the right ones.” — Paul Sweeney
