Debuting in third place is the J.P. Morgan Cazenove team under the leadership of Alexandra Hauber; the five-member crew also claims the top spot in Pharmaceuticals. The London-based researchers cover 20 companies across the two sectors. The biotechnology arena has always been product-driven, Hauber says, and at the start of last year investors were not pricing in much for development pipelines but instead were waiting to see results — hence the sector’s lackluster performance. (It dropped 19.5 percent in 2011.) Hauber “is an excellent analyst, and she has an excellent team behind her — they are my go-to people whenever I have questions or need some more information,” declares one buy-side loyalist.
