Santa Catarina, Brazil-based WEG is Latin America’s largest electric motor manufacturer. It also makes power transformers, generators, drives and controls across industries, including food and beverages, cement and mining, energy, oil and gas, and water and wastewater. The company, founded in 1961, gets its name from the first letters of the first names of co-founders Werner Ricardo Voigt, Eggon João da Silva and Geraldo Werninghaus. WEG employs more than 30,000 people and operates in 100 countries.
