Bank of America Merrill Lynch’s ten-strong squad under the guidance of Bryan Song in Seoul and Beijing-based Yi (Winnie) Wu retains the No. 3 spot it has held since 2014. This is “one of the few dedicated banking research teams active in the Street with good quality research, years of consistency and always timely updates,” insists one buy-side admirer. Wu, 38, “is second to none,” another fund manger observes. “She writes in-depth industry reports that give investors a clear view of the industry landscape on a global basis.” With Young-Ah Han, the 46-year-old Song also directs BofA Merrill’s coverage of South Korean equities; their crew posts its sixth straight No. 1 finish. Stationed in key Asia-Pacific countries, the firm’s regional banking analysts cover 80 companies.
