Suni Harford, a 24-year veteran of Citigroup, will join UBS
Asset Management in July, succeeding Dawn Fitzpatrick as head
Fitzpatrick left UBS to join Soros Fund
Management as chief investment officer in late March.
She started her career at OConnor & Associates, a
hedge fund acquired by UBS, and then rose through the ranks at
OConnor and UBS to become one of few women in leadership
positions in the asset management industry.
For the last nine years, Harford was Citigroups
regional head of markets for North America, a role that
included sales, trading, origination, and research across all
fixed income, currencies, commodities, equities, and municipal
bond businesses. In a statement, Ulrich Koerner, president of
UBS Asset Management, said, She brings strong leadership
capabilities combined with a broad knowledge of the investment
markets across multiple asset classes and deep understanding of
Fitzpatrick is not the only recent departure from UBSs
asset management arm. The firm has lost a number of
high-ranking executives as its Swiss bank parent continues to
grapple with scrutiny from regulators and cost-cutting. Other
departures include Blake Moore, head of UBS Asset
Managements Americas business, as well as leaders in
distribution, investment solutions, and human resources.
